2005 California Community College State Wrestling Champions
|
125 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Sabi Singh Fresno City College
|
Sabi’s goal was to end the forty-four year drought of a state champion 125
pound wrestler at Fresno City. Sabi refused to let go of his dream of
winning a state title. He worked harder than any wrestler I have ever
coached. Sabi wrestled his state championship match in the quarter-finals
of the state tournament, against Jose Hernandez from Santa Ana College
Jared Smith, Head Coach, Fresno City College.
133 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Corey Hamabata Mt. San Antonio College
|
Corey put in a lot of hard work in the off-season. He ended the year
undefeated in California Community College competition. He sacrificed
a lot to make a perfect season. Corey's win was extremely gratifying.
It has been great having him in our program.
Larry Watanabe, Head Coach, Mt. San Antonio College
141 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Benny Garcia San Joaquin Delta College

Benny set out this year to become San Joaquin Delta College's
first state champion. With hard work and determination, never
losing site of his goal, Benny was able to achieve what he set out
to do. It has been an honor to coach you Benny and I know that
you will be successful in what ever you choose to do.

149 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Mike O'Hara Santa Ana College
|
I am very proud of my guys…not so much as to the fact that they won, but by
how they won…They would not let go of their dream. They truly demonstrated
their relentless will to want to succeed when they were tired and beat down.
They knew it was their title going in and they would not be denied.
Vince Silva, Head Coach, Santa Ana College
157 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Zac Taylor West Valley College

Jim Root, Head Coach, West Valley College
165 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Jeff Davis Cerritos College
|
2005 Sac City Champion 2005 West Valley Champion 2005 Golden West Champion 2005 So. Cal Regional Champion
|
174 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Konrad Schwartz Sacramento City College
|
Konrad has come a long way in the past two years. He has always been a
hard worker, looking to find his niche. He never made high school state, so
when he took 5th in CCC State Championships last year, it was a big step.
We had big plans for him this year, and although he did well, he didn’t seem
to stay as consistent as we were thinking he would be. When he won the
San Francisco Tourney we knew he had figured out where he needed to be
for the end of the season. Although he stumbled at the Region, he righted
himself for the state. He has accomplished a goal he has strived for and
made all of those in his life very proud of this achievement.
David Pacheco, Head Coach, Sacramento City College
184 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Tim Hawkins Mt. San Antonio College
|
Tim has adjusted well to college competition. He is an outstanding
competitor. In this tournament he beat two opponents who had
defeated him earlier in the season. His match in the finals was exciting.
I am glad he was selected the Outstanding Wrestler. His weight class
was one of the toughest in the tournament
Larry Watanabe, Head Coach, Mt. San Antonio College
197 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Jacob Starr Cuesta College
|
Jacob is an extremely humble and modest wrestler who works very
hard inside and outside the wrestling room. He continually gets
better each and everyday. He is a quiet but deadly wrestler.
Joe Dansby, Head Wrestling Coach, Cuesta College
285 2005 California JC/CC State Champion Marcus Moore Sierra College
|
Marcus I told you that all the hard work and dedication would
Pay off and now you can start the next chapter of your life with a
state title And a lot of great memories
Kenneth Wharry, Head Coach, Sierra College
