Sabi Singh
Fresno City College
Sabi’s goal was to end the forty-four year drought of a state champion 125
pound wrestler at Fresno City. Sabi refused to let go of his dream of
winning a state title. He worked harder than any wrestler I have ever
coached. Sabi wrestled his state championship match in the quarter-finals
of the state tournament, against Jose Hernandez from Santa Ana College

Corey put in a lot of hard work in the off-season.  He ended the year
undefeated in California Community College competition.  He sacrificed
a lot to make a perfect season.   Corey's win was extremely gratifying.
It has been great having him in our program.

Mike O'Hara
Santa Ana College
I am very proud of my guys…not so much as to the fact that they won, but by
how they won…They would not let go of their dream. They truly demonstrated
their relentless will to want to succeed when they were tired and beat down.
They knew it was their title going in and they would not be denied.

Konrad Schwartz
Sacramento City College
Konrad has come a long way in the past two years.  He has always been a
hard worker, looking to find his niche.  He never made high school state, so
when he took 5th in CCC State Championships last year, it was a big step.
We had big plans for him this year, and although he did well, he didn’t seem
to stay as consistent as we were thinking he would be.  When he won the
San Francisco Tourney we knew he had figured out where he needed to be
for the end of the season.  Although he stumbled at the Region, he righted
himself for the state.  He has accomplished a goal he has strived for and
made all of those in his life very proud of this achievement.

Tim Hawkins
Mt. San Antonio College
Tim has adjusted well to college competition.  He is an outstanding
competitor.  In this tournament he beat two opponents who had
defeated him earlier in the season.  His match in the finals was exciting.
I am glad he was selected the Outstanding Wrestler.  His weight class
was one of the toughest in the tournament
